Intelligent Cleaning Robot

The chore of having to vacuum is one no one wants to be faced with. It is laborious, monotonous, and boring, and in today’s fast-paced society, it is far too time-consuming. This is why Robotic Cleaners have become much more popular and prevalent in the last few years, as it gives its users an escape from this monotonous weekly chore. Our goal with this project will be to improve the robot mapping, obstacle avoidance and the main task of cleaning a room conveniently and efficiently with our cleaning robot for the user.

Longest Line in Polygon

As an assignment for my algorithms course, I designed and implemented an algorithm to find the longest possible line that can exists within a polygon. The implementation provides 100% accuracy and is the most efficient possible solution. It works by testing all possible line segments that can occur between any two vertices and verifies that the line segment is fully within the polygon. Next, each candidate line is extended on both sides until it intersects with the wall of the polygon. Finally, the longest candidate line is returned.
